What do a duck, an alligator, and a caterpillar have in common? Not much, really. Except they’re all a part of our Craft Stick Animals craft today!
You can make a friendly Craft Stick Animals group with just wood craft sticks, some pipe cleaners, and a few poms. Each animal has it’s own distinct personality, just like they do in real life, too. Only there’s no chance to getting bit by our craft stick alligator here, though he does have some pretty awesome looking teeth
Our Craft Stick Animals consist of a duck, an alligator, and a caterpillar. Each one is bright and colorful and ready for summer adventures, so get crafting! Where will your kids take their Craft Stick Animals today?
- wood craft sticks – large, multi-colored
- pipe cleaners – green, yellow, black, orange
- poms – multi-colors
- googly eyes
For the alligator: Cut a green pipe cleaner in half. Wrap one half around the end of a green stick, and leave the 2 ends hanging down for the back legs. Do the same with the other half the pipe cleaner, except leave about an inch at the other end of the stick, which will be the alligators head.
Take 3 more green pipe cleaners and wrap the stick with them for the body of the alligator. Glue on 2 googly eyes and cut little jagged edges into a small piece of paper to glue under the stick for the teeth.
For the Caterpillar: Cut 2 black pipe cleaners in half. Wrap each one around a red stick, starting about an inch from the front and space out evenly down the stick. Leave the ends of the pipe cleaners hand down for the little legs.
Glue the poms on the top of the stick. These should touch so you don’t see the stick, except for that inch you left empty. Glue 2 googly eyes on this empty spot.
For the Duck: Wrap an orange pipe cleaner around the middle of an orange stick, leaving the ends hang down for feet. Wrap the stick in yellow pipe cleaners, leaving an inch on one end of the stick for the duck’s head. Take another orange stick and cut off the end, about an inch long. Glue this on the duck’s head, at the end of the stick for the beak. Glue 2 googly eyes on behind the beak.
