What do I do as a parent? That’s actually a great question. When you put into words what a day in the life consists of, it doesn’t sound as if it should be the toughest job in the world. But there’s so much more to it than words can convey. A fact that Office Depot® OfficeMax® recognized and made a video to keep inspiring parents to Gear up for Great.
The fact is, I’m not sure. I’m winging it just like everyone else and hoping for the best outcome. Whatever I do, I hope they know I love them and think they’re amazing. But what exactly do I do? A lot of dishes, laundry, trips for groceries, and complaining frequently about the couch pillows always winding up on the floor. It’s exhausting to go through the same motions day after day. That’s what makes parenting hard. Keep reading for your chance to win a $25 Office Depot® OfficeMax® gift card!
Even through the hardest moments, however, there is always reason and light. This past weekend, after their first few weeks back to school, we took a walk to a park. A park that I didn’t even realize was there, we just happened to stumble upon it. And there, I watched as my 10 year old ran laps around an empty baseball track, my daughter swinging higher on the swing, and my oldest looking out for everyone. We then sat all together on a bench before we walked back, our cheeks pink from the sun. I was so glad to be there in that moment with them.
It was a beautiful day. Full of the little moments that makes us who we are, the little moments that you may, as a parent, tend to think go unnoticed.
So what do I do as a parent? I guess you would have to ask my kids. The parents in this inspiring Office Depot® OfficeMax® Gearing Parents Up For Great video found out just what their kids think they do and it’s more than you realize. Let’s just say they do notice. It’s definitely a video everyone with kids should watch and share.
It’s a wonderful reminder that every little thing you do as a parent matters, so keep inspiring your kids to be great, even when you think no one is noticing. Because greatness at home gears them up for greatness at school and who knows what amazing things can happen next.
