Our favorite cereals are pantry staples around here. In fact, I’ll make a special trip to the store just to grab a box if we unexpectedly run out, because it’s more than just breakfast to us. It’s a late night snack, it’s a quick fill-up after school, it’s brunch, it’s anytime. It’s also great in recipes, or as the inspiration. And the new Honey Maid S’mores was both the inspiration and the base for these Honey Maid S’mores Baked Donuts.
Now available on the shelf in the breakfast aisle at your local Hy-Vee grocery store, the new Honey Maid S’mores is packed with the taste of s’mores right in your cereal bowl.
With chocolatey goodness, sweet marshmallows and the delicious taste of HONEY MAID® Graham Crackers, it’s now even easier for families to enjoy that classic graham cracker-y, sitting by the fire kind of goodness anywhere and anytime.
We like it so much that when our box of Honey Maid S’mores Cereal goes empty I’m sure I’ll be making a quick run to Hy-Vee for another.
But here at my house, we don’t leave our favorite cereals just for breakfast. Oh, we’ll eat it the traditional way, too. In a bowl with milk and a spoon. There’s nothing wrong with that.
No, here at my house, we’ll also sometimes turn our favorite cereal into bars, cupcakes, and donuts. This time, I couldn’t resist using our Honey Maid S’mores cereal as the inspiration for our Honey Maid S’mores Baked Donuts!
I made these Honey Maid S’mores Baked Donuts easier on myself by using a box white cake mix. An egg, 1/4 cup vegetable oil, and 1 cup water is all you need for the main donut, but you can also crunch some cereal pieces into smaller bits and add them in the batter, as well. It’s the same base recipe we used for our Coffee Creamer Glazed Donuts, too. We’ve also made Monster Eyes Donuts with a slightly different recipe.
Bake the donuts according to package directions. Let cool completely.
I then flipped our donuts over so that there was a larger opening in the center. Melt 2 cups of chocolate baking chips. Drizzle the chocolate over each donut. Crunch up more of the cereal and spread a layer of cereal on top of the drizzled chocolate, making sure you add a few whole pieces with marshmallows in the center.
A breakfast, cereal, dessert, and experience combine in these delicious Honey Maid S’mores Baked Donuts! Now that’s how we do inspiration around here.
