With so many places to go and things to see, summer is such a great time to get out and explore the world. Whether that means digging around in your own backyard or getting out and having an adventure on the road.
And for an amazing road trip, you don’t even need to go far. The next adventure could be just around the corner. In fact, I know there are plenty of fun places within just miles that we have yet to see. But before you head out on the road, you need to make sure your car is ready for wherever you need it to take you.
Routine oil changes are so important for the health of your car, especially for one with high miles like ours. Thankfully, I can leave my car in the good hands of the experts at Walmart’s Automotive Care Center for oil changes while I gather the other supplies we need.
Since our car has high miles, Pennzoil® High Mileage Vehicle® motor oil helps clean out the sludge lesser oils leave behind, while helping to reduce leaks and oil consumption in worn or higher mileage engines. It’s a motor oil specifically designed for new or late model vehicles with over 75,000 miles, with the mission of keeping engines running clean and going strong.
At the top of our list is an oil change, but there are a few other road trip essentials:
- Oil change
- Easy-to-eat Snacks
- First aid kit
- Hand wipes
Now, all of those are important. But when you’re riding with kids, we all know that entertainment makes the drive much more pleasant. Tablets and cell phones are life, and trip, savers especially for older kids.
But there comes a time when the data connection is lost or the phone needs to charge. For those instances, make sure you have other ways to entertain the kids at the ready. Kids will really love this Road Trip I Spy Bottle!
This Road Trip I Spy Bottle is so easy to make with packs of car buttons I found that also included planes and trains, along with sign shape buttons. They’re simply mixed with uncooked rice. We like to use the shape buttons as a game. “Can you find the shape of a stop sign? How about a shape of a construction cone?” Little kids are fascinated, and I have to say my big kids kinda get a kick out of it, too.
- clean, dry plastic bottle
- uncooked rice
- car and road sign shape pieces
Simply pour rice into your plastic bottle.
Add car and road sign shape pieces. Screw the lid on tightly then shake it all around to mix it up! What will you find on your next road trip adventure?
