Are you ready to get messy? Actually, the mess is pretty well contained, but you’ll feel like you should be making a mess with our Smush Paint Paper Easter Eggs Paint Craft process!
It’s called Smush Paint, because that’s literally what you do. You give the paint a good smush and then continue to smush it around until it covers your paper eggs.
We started with a sheet of wax paper. Then, cut 2 oval egg shapes out of heavy white cardstock. Drip different colors of acrylic paint around your egg before placing 2 sheets of wax paper on top. And smush! I will say, 2 sheets of wax paper is key to mess free smushing as we found that one sheet alone would rip. The finished result is a very neat tie-dye egg kind of effect!
- heavy white cardstock
- acrylic paint in assorted colors
- wax paper
Start by cutting oval egg shapes out of cardstock. You could search online for egg templates, or just cut freehand as we did.
Lay a sheet of wax paper on the table large enough to cover the eggs with extra. Place eggs on top. Squirt assorted colors of paint around the eggs in various patterns and groups.
Layer 2 large sheets and place on top of your eggs. And smush! Continue to knead and work the paint until it reaches all areas of the egg.
Carefully remove the top wax sheets. Remove the eggs from the paint and set on another, clean sheet of wax paper to dry.
We are so happy with how these Smush Paint Paper Easter Eggs turned out! I hope you all have a lot of fun using this art process, too. Be sure to find more fun Easter craft ideas and recipes at Kid Things!
