I am always looking for new ways to get my kids’ creativity flowing. My youngest two children love to draw and color and they’re actually really good at it, especially my 6 year old. So when I came across the Eye Can Art kits, my first thought was how perfect is this.
The kits, which range in price from $24 – $30, hold everything you would need for the project of your choice, along with a bit extra in case of mistakes or do-overs.
I chose the Sketch-Foam Printmaking Kit. Included were:
- Blue and White Printing inks
- 4 Foam sheets
- Lots of paper in a variety of colors
First, we sketched our picture on a piece of the foam, making sure it was drawn in hard enough to feel the lines. Though as I found out, even if it looks like it might not turn out right when printing, it most likely will. After our pictures were drawn, I rolled the blue printing ink across it before placing a piece of the included paper on top, lightly pressing the ink together with my fingers. And then, the big reveal!
The top one my daughter did. You should be more careful than I was, however, as I got ink in places I shouldn’t have. But that was my fault, not the fault of the kit. Buzz was involved, too, but he was more interested in drawing a werewolf on the black sheets of paper included. Either way, my kids loved this project. And we have enough left over to do it again.
